I was christened as a baby. I had no further contact with a church. At the age of 11 I became an atheist after asking my RE teacher “Who made God ?“ When I was 14 I became addicted to slot machine gambling and would steel to feed the slot machine habit. When I was 16 I joined the Royal Air Force, most of my earnings was spent on slot machines, my ID card under religion had the word “None” By the time I was 23 I was lonely and depressed, I walked to St Luke’s hospital where I was born in 1957. I wondered why I was born! Facing the hospital was a church and the notice board had the address of the vicarage. I called there and met the vicar Les Austin. He told me that God had a purpose for me, this was Good News. I accepted Jesus as my saviour that night. Later I went to visit my girl-friend and on the way as I walked by the River Wharf I faced the river and throw the silver I had in my pocket into the river asking the Lord to help me overcome my addiction to slot machines. The Lord blessed me as I repented my sin and I was cured of my addiction. I have not been near a slot machine in the 38 years since my turn around. Antony
